Hertz is electrifying its rentals with Tesla Model 3 vehicles
Hertz is electrifying its rentals!
Hertz, an American automobile rental company, has placed an order for 100,000 Tesla Model 3 cars as part of its ambitious plan to electrify its rental fleet. The company made the single largest purchase of electric vehicles. Setting a great example for other businesses in the fight to reduce CO2 emissions from internal combustion engines.
With that said, this substantial purchase by one of the world’s largest rental car companies shows the company’s belief. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity among environmentally conscious consumers as an alternative to ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles.
“Electric vehicles are now mainstream, and we’ve only just begun to see a rising global demand and interest”
said in a press release Hertz interim CEO Mark Fields.
“The new Hertz is going to lead the way as a mobility company. Starting with the largest EV rental fleet in North America and a commitment to grow our EV fleet. And provide the best rental and recharging experience for leisure and business customers around the world.”
How Hertz will elictrify its rentals?
Over the next 14 months, there will be a distribution of all vehicles. Tesla will distribute car deliveries between individual customers and Hertz, meaning that they will distribute them equally.
From early November, the Tesla Model 3 will be available for rent at Hertz offices in major U.S. cities and parts of Europe. Of course, all Tesla’s 3,000 supercharging stations located throughout the US and Europe will be available to the customers. Apart from this, Hertz is developing its own charging infrastructure.
By the time Tesla’s order is fulfilled, the company hopes to have over 20% of its global infrastructure made up of electric vehicles. Also, they aim to have Level 2 and DC fast charging in 65 markets by the end of next year, and over 100 markets by the end of 2023.
Therefore, Hertz’s goal is to be a major provider of EVs to rental clients. Model 3 customers will have a “premium and differentiated rental experience” in comparison to non-EV renters.
