EV charging stations at IKEA
The new IKEA in Live Oak Texas is getting EV charging stations and solar panels.
The Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA announced Tuesday that its store at Live Oak Town Center in Texas will be equipped with three Blink electric vehicle charging stations, which is part of a partnership between IKEA and Car Charging Group Inc.
In addition, the store will have solar panels. The new store will feature a 245,000-square-foot solar array, which will consist of a 1.72-megawatt system, built with 4,986 panels. The system will approximately produce 2,510,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in a year.
“At IKEA, we have a mission to create a better everyday life for the many, and IKEA Live Oak can add to this goal by installing the second-largest solar rooftop array in the San Antonio area,” said Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. president in a statement.
IKEA in Sweden
IKEA department stores in Sweden strives to reduce the environmental impact of transport and wants to promote sustainable transport. In the stores, you can find EV charging stations for electric cars and hybrids with EU-standard Type 2 sockets. With IKEA’s charging points you can charge your vehicle up to 80% during an average store visit.
