TeslaMic – new Tesla product
Tesla has released a new product called TeslaMic as part of their planned 2022.2.1 software update for their Chinese customers, which debuted on February 1 to celebrate Chinese New Year. They launched their own branded wireless microphone for the in-car karaoke system.
Sad to say, that for the time being, the new gadget will be available only in China. Of course, the automaker expanded its US trademark to audio products. Therefore, this could mean that Tesla is preparing to launch the TeslaMic also in other markets.
How it started
This isn’t the first time Tesla tried karaoke. A few years ago, in 2019 Tesla introduced a new in-car feature called ‘Karaoke’. Its V10 software, for global users, played a limited selection of music with lyrics displayed on the central panel.
However, with the new 2022.2.1 software update in China, the company is offering a more complete karaoke system that runs on the in-car computer and uses Leishi KTV’s interface and catalog.
About TeslaMic
According to Tesla’s description, the TeslaMic can be used for more than 10 hours. But cannot be used in vehicles equipped with the NVIDIA Tegra infotainment processor. Tesla’s microphone features a moving coil capsule DSP processing chip, anti-whistling technology, super-cardioid pickup design, and multiple built-in sound modules to help out the singers. TeslaMic also has U-segment signal transmission with automatic pairing, which allows microphone to instantly pair with the system.
Tesla, like the rest of the world, often combines features for a bigger end-of-the-year software update, which usually contains some entertaining additions. This time for the Chinese New Year update, Tesla took a step further. They launched this device which is priced at 1,199 yuan ($189/€170) in Telsa’s Chinese retail store. The microphone was sold out in less than an hour. More stock is expected to arrive by the end of February.
